MSc Review

In 2017, with a robust Department of Physics in its academic body and its research lines consolidated, a new Master's program in Physics was promoted, drawing on the experience of the previous Master's degree with an updated and modern vision of such a program. Internal Regulations and the Curriculum for the new Master’s Program in Science with a mention in Physics were prepared, and a call was made to form the first Faculty Council in December 2017. During the first semester of 2018, the first cohort of students was admitted, totaling four enrolled students, and later, in the second semester, two more students joined, making a total of six students enrolled in 2018. The first generation of graduates from the program emerged in the first semester of 2020. Currently, there are a total of seventeen graduates.

Considering the strategic objectives of the Faculty of Science and the Department of Physics to enhance the Faculty's graduate programs, the accreditation process for the Program began in 2018 and concluded with accreditation granted by the National Accreditation Commission on November 6, 2019. Additionally, during this period, an improvement plan with various initiatives for program promotion and updating of regulations has been implemented, supporting the strategic objective of improving the management of graduate programs. Finally, with the new accreditation process, our program continues its goal of constant improvement, supporting the strategic axis of sustainability at the University of Santiago de Chile and enhancing existing graduate programs.
