Internal scholarships

The University of Santiago, Chile perceives Inclusion and Social Responsibility as its institutional values. It has consistently developed a program of competitive scholarship funds for graduate students. Below there is a list of benefits you can apply for as a graduate student:
  1. Excellence Scholarship for Foreigners: Aimed at foreign students with an academic trajectory of excellence who are accepted into a doctoral program at the University of Santiago, Chile.  Applications are automatic after applying to a program. Scholars are assigned once a year (January).
  2. Doctoral Grant: It grants full financing of the annual doctorate fee (tuition fee exemption scholarship), in addition to an amount of money for the personal expenses of the scholarship holders (maintenance grant), excluding the value of the semester tuition fees of the program. Applications are automatic after applying to a program. Scholars are assigned every semester (January and August).
  3. Research Support Grant: It consists of financial support (up to US $ 1,500) for graduate students to participate in external congresses, symposia, courses or seminars, or equivalent activities that are significant for their academic training.
  4. Scholarship for University of Santiago, Chile employees: Reduction of 50% of the annual fee for the postgraduate program and in the payment of the basic semester fee (tuition). This scholarship is awarded according to the administration and availability of each program. One of the requirements is to be an employee of the University of Santiago de Chile, either an academic or an administrative employee.
  5. USACH ex-student scholarship: The fee reduction is aimed at graduates (former students) who certify the completion of undergraduate studies at the University of Santiago, Chile. The existence of quotas for these scholarships should be consulted in each Program Secretariat.
  6. Department scholarships: Based on available funding, the Departments assign several types of scholarships to their students to support their enrollment and research. These include international and national moving grants for both national and international students moving to Santiago, travel grants for presentations at national and international conferences, and operating-cost grants for purchasing computers, lab supplies, and other needs for accomplishing research.

External scholarships

The University of Santiago, Chile is accredited by the National Accreditation Commission (CNA Chile), and for these reasons, students can access funds for tuition-fee benefits and other purposes at the national and international levels. Although each fund is managed by the corresponding organization, the University promotes participation in scholarship calls, and supports and encourages its students to apply. Please find below a list of available opportunities for our students.

  1. ANID National Doctoral Scholarship. The National Doctorate Scholarship finances doctoral studies in all areas of knowledge in accredited programs. More information can be found here and on the website of the National Research and Development Agency (ANID).
  2. Bilateral Agreements DRII - University, Santiago. The Department of International and Interuniversity Relations invites undergraduate and graduate students to apply for the International Student Mobility Exchange through existing agreements between the University of Santiago, Chile and its partner universities in the world to carry out student exchange in semesters 1 or 2 of 2021 at a foreign university.
